Urban Design School: Urban Design Principles, Skills and Processes
Learn how to deliver well-designed places through best-practice urban design principles, skills and processes.
This full day event is for built environment practitioners who want to refresh their urban design skills and knowledge. The training event will feature presentations from expert urban designers and interactive practical sessions to sharpen your design skills. The Urban Design School aims to provide useful skills and knowledge for those working in the fields of planning, architecture and development.
The morning session will feature presentations on best practice urban design principles and processes, and an exploration of case studies showcasing good and bad design. In the afternoon, we will visit and analyse a nearby development site before returning to the venue for a group design session. It will be delivered by experienced members of the Design South East team, alongside guest speaker Hugo Nowell, Director at Urban Initiatives Studio.

- Explore practical skills in urban design analysis and masterplanning
- Feel more confident assessing design and negotiating with other design professionals
