Study Tour: Rochester Riverside, Medway

Rochester Riverside is an award winning, medium density, mixed use neighbourhood leading the regeneration of Medway’s dockyards. In this half-day study tour, the local authority, developer and design team will present the story of the place and lead a guided tour of the development. Attendees will learn about the best practice planning process and design approach that has led to this beautiful new neighbourhood, which was named Housing Design Awards Winner of Winners in 2020.

This study tour will bring together Kent Design members and non-members together to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the counties. The tour will last a half day and is accessible by train to Rochester Station, or car. 

Objectives:

  • Gain an insight into the roles and responsibilities of the client and design team.
  • Recognise best practice in housing design and masterplanning.
  • Understand how the local authority led the planning process to deliver a high quality outcome.

The Study Tour will include:

  • a tour of an exemplary development
  • guest speaker talks
  • Q&A / discussions and lessons learned
  • a members only online resource library

Key details:

What’s included: Tour guides/guest speakers, supporting materials & refreshments.

Not included: Public transport to/from Rochester (or any other route or means of travel). Parking fees/charges (for those who prefer to drive to Rochester or a connecting railway station, car park/parking meter near the site). Lunch is also not included – there’s a great selection of local cafes and outlets nearby.

Non-members:
There are a limited number of places available for non-members. Places are priced at £95.00 pp + VAT. Register by Monday 3rd October 2022.

Seating: This will be arranged with extra space between seats and rows.
