Part 1: Why do planning and design fit together?

A session to show how planning and design fit together, setting out the basics of good design and how to influence this in your role as a Councillor. Presentations will be followed by plenty of time for Q&A and discussion.

These sessions are aimed primarily at Councillors and elected members, but any other Kent Design members can attend to learn more about design in planning.

The aim is to help elected members ensure that our neighbourhoods are well-designed; providing much-needed homes with good access to local services and amenities.

The sessions are structured around the Design Network’s ‘Councillors Companion for Design in Planning’, and will follow the following structure:

1.     Session 1 (1 hour): Planning and design – 6-7pm on Thursday 3rd July

2.     Session 2 (1 hour): The characteristics of well-designed places – 6-7pm on Wednesday 9th July

3.     Session 3 (1 hour): Things to watch out for – 6-7pm on Wednesday 23rd July
