Architect BPTW

BPTW were appointed to provide architectural services up to planning for a redevelopment scheme located in the riverside town of Chatham, Kent. The Brook regeneration has delivered 77 homes across three sites, transforming the area and building a cohesive community by providing much needed high quality, energy efficient housing.

The project is an outstanding example of urban regeneration which has stitched together three sites at Cross Street, Eldon Street, and Upbury Way to create one thriving community. Residents benefit from new spacious energy efficient homes with great transport links.

At Eldon Street, BPTW redeveloped former post-war housing into 19 modern homes comprising of 8 family houses and 11 apartments. By reinstating a traditional street frontage, a vibrant and welcoming neighbourhood was created. At Upbury Way, a unique infill sight was redeveloped into a small flat block of 5 units and a mews row of 3 houses. These are easily recognisable by their striking green roofs which helped to deliver increased biodiversity to the area. Completing the scheme, Cross Street makes up the final part of The Brook Regeneration, offering 50 tenure blind homes that complement the local surroundings with varied building heights to enhance the existing urban grain of the area. The scheme was highly commended at the Kent Housing Group Excellence Awards in 2018 in the ‘Excellence in Development’ category.
