The scheme is a redevelopment of a former sheltered housing scheme comprising bedsit units with shared facilities, which was no longer fit for purpose, to provide quality housing to today’s standards.

In its place, Golding Homes drew up plans (following consultation with tenants, the wider public and planning) to create a high quality contemporary style development that was sympathetic to the local Kent vernacular. The design is modern yet respectful to the mixed surrounding developments, in terms of scale, form, materials, fenestration and most importantly meeting housing needs in terms of mix, tenure and size.

The scheme comprises a mixed development of 2 bed bungalows and 3 and 4 bedroom houses for affordable rent and shared ownership. The contract also included for the upgrade of the adjacent Amies House block which was partly reclad in similar external cladding material to that of the main development to assist the integration between the new and existing properties.

The scheme was completed September 2014and has been a major success.
